Topic: Add Page - Index Files Not Appearing

Hi there,

when adding/cloning a page, none of the index.php files are appearing within directories (apart from the homepage) . All other pages are there just not the index.php files?

Does there need to be a sitemap.xml defined for this to work?  What is the purpose of the sitemap?

This is affecting the Scuba Travel website.  Seems to be ok on all my other websites.

Re: Add Page - Index Files Not Appearing

Hi Mike, if you have specified to use your own sitemap.xml then you will need to include links to all of your pages that you want to display in the system, otherwise how would the system know those pages exist?

If you aren't using your own sitemap.xml then the system will crawl your site and generate it's own sitemap but this list is based on the pages the system crawls from your homepage, so if you aren't linking to all of your pages then the system won't display those pages as it won't know they exist.

Re: Add Page - Index Files Not Appearing

Thanks Simon,

Im not using a sitemap just yet, and im not linking to all pages from the homepage.  However, the system is picking up every page within the website (apart from the index files in directories).  Hmm.  Do you basically always recommend have a sitemap?

What happen when new pages are created by the system, are they added to simpleCMS's own sitemap?
