Topic: FTP Access

Hi Support,

I've just downloaded your software and when adding a Site to edit I get the following message...
We are unable to log into the server, please check that the FTP username and FTP password are correct.
If you keep seeing this message, you could check your details using your FTP software.
You may also need to add our dedicated IPs to your allowed FTP list:
208.109.198.3
208.109.198.189

I am not sure what I'm suppose to do. You mention an allowed FTP list but I wouldn't know where this is.

I've just looked at the public_html permssions of my site and they show as....
Permissions = 711
Owner Permissions = Read (Yes), Write (Yes), Execute (Yes)
Group Permissions = Read (No), Write (No), Execute (Yes)
Public = Read (No), Write (No), Execute (Yes)

Do I need to alter any of the above or am I suppose to do something else?

I've looked on the Forums and in the Tutorials but I don't see anything that helps me solve the above.

Hi Brian, that error message will appear if you enter in the wrong FTP username and FTP password. The best thing to do is enter the same details into your FTP client as well as into SimpleCMS - this way you can check that you have entered the same details.

That error message may also appear if your FTP server restricts access by IP. From what you've said it doesn't sound like this is the case.
